Sampling of suspected influenza patients in Shahid Chamran Hospital, Borujerd

Life > Health – The Minister of Health said

If the management of hospitals is handed over to the non-governmental sector, they can manage and increase the efficiency of the hospital much better than the government and the Ministry of Health
In response to the question whether the private sector can be profitable with government tariffs, Qazizadeh Hashemi stated: If the medical tariffs are real, this will happen
The Minister of Health had previously spoken many times about handing over the management of treatment to the private sector and purchasing the service by the government, and considered the inherent duty of the Ministry of Health to be policy-making and supervision

These words are said while Qazizadeh Hashemi has recently involved the Ministry of Defense in the field of treatment. On November 19 of this year, the ministers of defense and health signed a memorandum of understanding to build 4 specialized cancer treatment centers in the cities of Tehran, Isfahan, Mashhad and Sari with the joint investment of these two ministries

Earlier in April this year, the Ministry of Health had signed a contract with the IRGC to build a hospital. Qazizadeh Hashemi said at the signing ceremony of this contract that he will make a joint investment of 500 billion tomans with Khatam Al-Anbiya construction site within the next 4 years

Opponents of the Minister of Health believe that the transformation plan of the health system has led to the governmentization of more of the treatment sector. Some time ago, Hojjat-ul-Islam Abu Torabi Fard, the deputy speaker of the parliament, expressed his dissatisfaction with the reliance of the medical department on public budgets and claimed that nearly a quarter of the country’s public budget is spent on medical treatment. In a meeting with the insurance officials, the health minister said that our view of the health sector is socialist and even countries like America and England have a socialist view in this sector

Regarding the privatization of the pharmaceutical sector, Rasul Dinarand, head of the Food and Drug Organization, says: “We believe that there is no need for the presence and activity of governmental and quasi-governmental sectors in the entire pharmaceutical cycle of production, distribution and supply.”
But Nasser Riyahi, the head of the Union of Drug Importers believes: “There is no interest in privatization in the Ministry of Health. In the drug policymaking council, where I am present, I see the neglect of the private sector. It can be said that the government does not recognize the private sector. Pharmacists Association, as a representative of the private sector, always complains that government pharmacies have narrowed the field for private sector activities.
Some time ago, Mojdehi Azar, the head of the Association of Pharmacists, considered the operation of pharmacies by the Red Crescent illegal and demanded that the pharmacies of the Red Crescent be closed. He also objected to the monopoly of the supply of some medicines in government and Red Crescent pharmacies. But Dinarand defended the Red Crescent pharmacy and said that we cannot close the Red Crescent pharmacies
